Title:  Mathematical Models for Epidemiology: HPV and Oropharyngeal Cancer

Abstract:   Mathematical models play an important role in epidemiology. This talk will examine the mathematics behind three models: the Age–Period–Cohort (APC) model, the Armitage–Doll model of carcinogenesis, and the Two Stage Clonal Expansion (TSCE) model. These models will be applied to HPV (human papillomavirus) prevalence and incidence of HPV-related oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas.
