Abstract:   This is an interesting talk introducing Rubik’s Cube and its
relation with group theory. We will start with constructing the
Rubik’s Cube group, and then study the properties of this group. Our
goal is to decompose the group, which will help derive some
interesting results. These results can give us insight about how to
solve the puzzle. The method used here can be adapted to study many
other symmetric puzzles, and we may also include some computational
aspects related to the puzzle in this talk if time permitted. The only
prerequisite is some very basic knowledge of group theory ( e.g.
definition of a group, normal subgroup, permutation group, etc.)
