Abstract:   General relativity (GR) is Einstein’s geometric theory of gravitation. Its central object of investigation is a spacetime, or a connected, orientable, time orientable Lorentzian manifold. Einstein’s field equation is allegedly the name card for GR. However, a surprisingly last amount of ideas in GR can be discussed without even mentioning the field equation. In this talk, we will introduce the basic framework of general relativity theory starting from the definition of a tangent vector. All you need to know to start is the definition of a differentiable manifold.
